Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers about what Prove Human records, how verification works, and what it can and can’t do.
What exactly does Prove Human record?
Activity inside the Prove Human editor: when keys are pressed (timing, not a video), insertions and deletions, cursor moves between sections, pastes and their size, and writing sessions. It does not record your screen, camera, microphone, other browser tabs, or other apps.
Who can see my writing record?
Only you, until you create a certificate and share its link. When you share, you choose whether the reviewer sees just the summary or the full replay.
How do I share my certificate?
Every certificate has its own link. Copy the link into an email, assignment portal, or application; download the PDF; or use “Email it” to send it from the site. If your teacher uses a Prove Human class, certificates for class assignments are submitted automatically.
How does a reviewer verify a certificate?
They open your certificate link, or go to the verify page and paste the text you gave them. We check that the text exactly matches the sealed record and show the summary. Verifying is free and needs no account.
Can the record be edited after the fact?
No. Activity is sent to our server in small chunks as you write. Each chunk is timestamped by the server and linked to the one before it with a cryptographic fingerprint, so changing any part of the history breaks the chain.
Can Prove Human be fooled?
No system is perfect. Someone could retype AI text slowly into the editor. Genuine writing has pauses, rewrites, and reorganization; copying from another screen tends to be steady and linear, and the record flags that pattern. Faking a natural multi-day writing history takes more effort than writing. We present results as evidence, never as absolute proof.
Can I paste from my notes or quote sources?
Yes. Pastes are allowed and labeled in the record, so a quotation shows up as what it is. Some teachers may choose to turn pasting off for a particular assignment.
What if I’m allowed to use some AI?
You can mark AI help in the record, for example “used AI to brainstorm topics.” Honest disclosure is better than guessing what a detector will say.
Can I write in Google Docs or Word instead?
Not yet. A Google Docs extension is planned. For now, writing happens in the Prove Human editor, and you can copy your finished text anywhere you like.
How is this different from an AI detector?
A detector guesses from finished text. Prove Human shows how the text was actually written. AblePro also has a free AI detector at ai.ablepro.net, but a certificate is much stronger evidence.
Do I need a password?
No. Enter your email and we send you a one-time sign-in link. The same link creates your free account the first time.
I’m a teacher. How do I collect certificates?
With the Teacher plan, create a class and share its code. Post an assignment, and when students certify their work for it, the certificate is submitted to you automatically, with a summary of each student’s writing record.
What does it cost?
Writing is free, and the free plan includes 3 certificates a month. Pro and Teacher plans add more. Verifying a certificate is always free.
